NYPost – September 08, 2008
There were high times on the high line Sunday evening.

To celebrate its fortieth anniversary, Calvin Klein took over a section of the planned High Line park in West Chelsea and turned it into an urban oasis that drew a bevy of boldface names and many of the models who helped the company make many of its iconic ads.

High wattage peeps such as Halle Berry, Ethan Hawke, Claire Danes, Ellen Pompeo, Jared Leto, Ashley Olsen, Cynthia Nixon, John Leguizamo, Padma Lakshmi, Martha Stewart and more attended the posh party that company executives admitted cost “well over $1 million.”

The company built a three story structure that resembled at big white box at Tenth Avenue and 30th Street to reach the elevated railroad tracks that were converted into an urban oasis with plants, benches, lighting and roses. Designed by architect John Pawson, the space was all white and gray on the inside, resembling the company’s flagship store on Madison Avenue. This temporary structure was set to be dismantled hours after the party ended Monday morning, with the materials recycled to area agencies that could use it.

“I just heard this whole place was going to be taken apart tomorrow,” said Lipstick Jungle’s Rob Buckley. “I’d like to take some stairs with me when I leave,” he joked. “Or maybe an ‘exit’ sign.”

Many there were happy to share their first Calvin Klein memory. Molly Sims admitted she wore way too much Obsession. “And you know Marky Mark — the way he wore his underwear and jeans? I tried to wear the underwear and the whole look — it didn’t go over so well,” she said. “It was better on guys than on girls.”

Lindsay Price claimed her first Calvin Klein memory features her “Lipstick Jungle” co-star Brooke Shields. “I think everyone remembers the ads that Brooke did.”

Shields however, wasn’t talking beyond admitting that she’s still stopped on the street, twenty years later. “They point at me and say ‘Calvin Klein.’”

Apparently, those poses are still in her repetoir. “We were shooting a scene after Lindsay Price’s character had a fashion show,” co-star Kim Raver explained. “Brooke did this pose and someone said ‘you look like a Calvin Klein model’ and she said, ‘I am.’”
